ADAS Calibration Unsuccessful or Incomplete
An unsuccessful or incomplete calibration requires an explanation and appropriate follow-up. Physical setup, component condition, diagnostic issues or procedure conditions can be relevant. Repeating the process without understanding the obstacle may not resolve it.

What to Clarify for Your Vehicle
Ask what prevented completion and which corrective or diagnostic step is proposed. A record that a calibration was attempted is different from documentation that its completion criteria were met. Confirm how the unresolved requirement affects the repair handoff.
An unsuccessful attempt needs a defined next step
An attempted calibration is not the same as a successful result. An incomplete procedure may relate to prerequisites, physical conditions, equipment, communication or other factors. The result identifies a need for further assessment; it does not automatically establish that the sensor must be replaced.
The repair record should separate work attempted from work completed. Repeated attempts without a documented investigation do not explain why the procedure is failing or what is needed to finish it.
Make the status clear before handoff
Ask what prevented completion, what was diagnosed and which additional work is proposed. If there is an unresolved condition, request its status and next step in writing. Avoid accepting a generic checked notation when the result was actually incomplete.
A warning that disappears temporarily is not necessarily evidence that the required procedure succeeded. Keep the available reports and the shop’s explanation together. If a further appointment or provider is necessary, clarify the arrangement and authorization rather than assuming it is included.
Example: a replaced sensor with an incomplete result
Consider a repair in which a sensor is replaced, but the subsequent calibration does not complete. The new part does not automatically establish that the system is ready. The repairer needs to assess why the procedure failed and identify the next required work.
A useful explanation distinguishes an unmet setup condition from a diagnosed component or communication concern. It should also identify whether additional authorization is needed. An unexplained second sensor replacement would not answer the owner’s question about the basis for the decision.
Ask for the status in plain language: what completed, what did not and what is needed next. Retain the available report and any revised scope. Do not clear warnings or adjust a sensor mounting position yourself to try to help the procedure. Those actions can change the condition being investigated. The purpose of the record is to make an unresolved requirement visible, not to turn an attempted operation into a completion claim.

Related Guidance
Ask about the dependency and authorization for the next step
If a physical condition must be addressed first, ask how it relates to the required operation. A mounting correction, diagnostic investigation and another procedure attempt can have distinct purposes. The scope should explain those relationships. Avoid requesting an adjustment based solely on a forum example from another vehicle.
Confirm who handles the remaining work and whether an outside provider is involved. Ask what is arranged, what is awaiting your response and what information is needed. An appointment or transport plan should not be mistaken for completion. Payment and coverage questions should be discussed with the responsible people separately from the technical findings.
Before delivery, ask about any unresolved requirement, limitation or follow-up. A warning that disappears temporarily does not independently settle the procedure’s result. Request an explanation tied to the actual records and vehicle. Do not clear messages or alter a sensor mount yourself to try to make the final stage easier.
